Cooking in an oven is a great way to cook, especially if your customers prefer baked or roasted foods. An oven allows you to cook a lot of food simultaneously, enabling you to prepare your meals quickly. Additionally, an oven preheats quickly, reducing your cooking time.
However, your food may cook unevenly even after following all the cooking instructions. Unevenly cooked food can ruin your business reputation and also pose a health risk. This article highlights four reasons why your commercial electric oven cooks unevenly.
A temperature sensor is a device that monitors the temperatures inside your oven. This device also sends signals to the control board whether to increase, decrease, or maintain the preset temperature.
If your temperature sensor fails, the control board will not interpret the signals and change the temperature accordingly. As a result, the temperature in your oven will fluctuate, cooking your food unevenly.
To know if your temperature sensor has a problem, check whether the sensor touches the walls of your oven. If so, return the sensor to the correct position. You may also use an ohmmeter to see if the sensor functions properly. Additionally, you can preheat your oven and check if the resistance temperature reading in the sensor also increases.
Your commercial oven consists of two elements: the baking and broiling elements. The baking element is at the bottom of your oven, whereas the broil element is at the top. These elements work together to distribute heat throughout the cooking process for even cooking.
If the bake element is faulty, only the broil element will heat your oven. As a result, only the top part of your food will cook while the bottom remains undercooked. On the other hand, if the broil element stops working, only the bottom part of your food will cook.
You have several ways to check if your oven elements work. First, check for visible damage signs like breaking or blistering. You can also heat your oven and observe whether the two elements glow red hot simultaneously.
If any oven element has issues, call a professional to replace them since oven elements are usually unrepairable.
With convention electric ovens, the fan is responsible for distributing hot air, enabling your food to cook faster and evenly. If your fan is faulty, hot air will not circulate, resulting in uneven cooking.
To check whether your oven fan works properly, listen for any loud or unusual fan noises when your oven is on. Strange noises often indicate a problem with your fan. You can also wait for your oven to cool down and try to turn the fan with your hand. If the fan doesn't move freely, call a professional to replace this equipment.
Often, manufacturers calibrate oven control boards to match the temperature you choose. If the manufacturer makes a mistake when calibrating the control board, your oven's internal temperature may not reflect your selected temperature. As a result, your food will cook unevenly.
To check if the calibrations on your oven control board are correct, set your oven temperature and check the accuracy of your oven's calibrations using a separate oven thermometer. If your oven's set temperature and that of the separate thermometer are similar, the calibrations on your oven control board are correct. However, if these temperatures are different, ask an oven repair expert to recalibrate your oven board.
Your commercial oven should cook your food evenly. If your food cooks non-uniformly, you may have one of the issues discussed above. Therefore, you may need to call an oven repair expert to identify the exact issue and replace or repair the faulty parts. For oven repair services,
